About
The Khimki Art Gallery is one of the leading art museums in the Moscow region with a unique collection of authentic works by Russian artists of the 19th and 20th centuries. The gallery owes its existence to Professor Sergey Nikolaevich Gorshin, an outstanding scientist, Doctor of Technical Sciences, and the largest collector of Russian paintings. He has been forming his collection for more than half a century. From S.N. Gorshin, the gallery received over 200 paintings by renowned masters of Russian realistic painting: I. Aivazovsky, A. Savrasov, I. Shishkin, I. Levitan, V. Polenov, A. Vasnetsov, K. Makovsky, D. Burlyuk, R. Falk and many others.
Currently, the gallery's activities combine the work of a permanent exhibition with the organization of temporary exhibitions, formed both on the basis of its own funds and with the involvement of works from other museums. Temporary exhibitions cover a wide range of topics, from monographic exhibitions dedicated to individual artists and trends to large-scale inter-museum thematic projects.
The gallery develops exhibition activities beyond its borders: works from its collection regularly participate in exhibition projects of leading Russian museums.

In 1989, the collection was presented at the Tretyakov Gallery and was highly appreciated by experts, a fact that confirms its exceptional importance for Russian culture.

The foundation of the gallery's collection is the collection of scientist and collector Sergei Nikolaevich Gorshin. At the same time, the collector set himself a noble goal — to revive the forgotten names of Russian artists. That is why, along with paintings by such world-famous masters as I. Aivazovsky, I.
